Our herdsires and A.I. sires are selected with a multi-trait process with initial emphasis placed on structural soundness and disposition. Not only do our bulls need to travel big pastures to do their job, we need to be able to walk around them and work the cattle safely to do our job.
Our selection criteria encompass traits from conception (heifer pregnancy EPD) to consumption (marbling EPD) with a balance of maternal and growth traits.
A home-raised son of Sitz Conformation 689A out of a Connealy Spur daughter who was the leadoff bred heifer at the 2015 Vermilion Ranch fall production sale. Sons have length and muscle, while daughters are very nice uddered maternal young cows.
We selected Black Velvet as the 2nd high selling fall yearling at Sydgen in 2015. This well- muscled son of the bull known as Whiskey, is siring daughters with excellent feet and udders in a moderate sized package.
